AIM stands for Air Interception Missile.

Credit goes to Triton Aerospace for allowing the use and modification of his guidance computer (and for finding a critical error in my design process) as well to Alpha Space Technologies for developing the missile itself.

Max speed: Mach 6 (2000m/s)

Speed range: 1200m/s - 2000m/s

Max altitude: 15000m

Recommended altitude: 10000m and under

Hit rate: 100% (under 10000m); 75% at high altitudes

Kill rate: generally 100%, if it hits, its often a direct, and fatal, one.

Insta-kill blast radius: 15m

Effective blast radius: up to 20-25m

Recommended launch speed: 100-850 m/s (can launch faster if you'd like, didnt test it though)

Rangeband (forward aspect): 5-80km (launched @ Mach 1); 7-170km (launched @ Mach 2+)

Rear Aspect Rangeband: 1-50km

Weight (wet/dry): ~120kg/60kg

Off bore-sight capable: YES!

Can pull something around 80 G's off the rails.

The AIM-2A Shard Air to Air Missile is an Advanced Short-Medium Range Air to Air Missile (ASMRAAM) developed by Alpha Space Technologies, in partnership with Triton Aerospace, with the project being financed by a joint venture between Alpha Space Technologies and Beacon Industries. It is the culmination of generations of science expertise, as well as wallet draining, and a patience breaking project testing that allowed for the creation of one of the most advanced, powerful, and accurate air to air missiles ever made by Droodkind.

Featuring a lightweight airframe, loaded with lots of fuel, and a sustainer motor with impulse grain, this missile can go quite the distance, being able to adapt to the situation for short range, medium range, or even long range BVR combat. Because of its light and nimble airframe, the missile can generally speed up to about ~1100 m/s faster than the speed it was launched at. It also features EXCELLENT tracking and MER (Maneuvering Energy Retention), meaning it can hold its speed very well, even when turning and flying without power. On top of all of those features, it is VERY maneuverable, and even features Thrust Vector Control, gimbaling the engine up to 25°, which can allow for some insane direction changing at early phases of flight.

And if all THAT is not enough to WOW you, it is also heat tolerant up to 3000 kelvin, features a fail safe proximity fuse that is 100% reliable, and for all its capability, weighs a modest 120kg, and is at a decent size of 3.3 meters in length!

This missile is absolutely phenomenal, and is a must have on every fighter jet. It is practically undodgeable in normal conditions, and is practical to use in most aerial fighting scenarios. It is fast, agile, lightning quick, reacts like a photon, and strikes like an atomic bomb. Its only downside is that, as a solid fueled missile, it doesnt feature insane range and unlimited energy. But at this point, who even cares anymore?! In fact, F### making these long and boring descriptions, I want a Shard missile too!!!

This weapon is compatible with all Alpha Space Technology developed aircraft with 1st gen Fire Control System. Just select a target on the jet, and deploy ordinance via Activation group powered Fire Control System on board said jet (FCS instructions sold on separate aircraft). The AIM-2A will automatically fly towards to target and detonate upon impact, if within physics range.
