Post WWII, Hyperion Enterprises saw a huge leap in business, as their planes had proudly and reliably served the Allied Forces for the entirety of the conflict. In 1948, they decided to launch a civilian version of their B-20 light bomber as a cargo plane named the Silver Comet, named for its rapid cruising speed and polished aluminum airframe. Mail carriers like the Droo Postal Service praised its rock-steady flight characteristics, spacious cockpit, and incredible (for the day) fuel efficiency. The D-16 was so popular, Hyperion continued making it until 1993, switching the 1,800-kW radial engines out for their in-house turboprop engines in 1971.

@HyperionEnterprises great ill check them out tomorrow as i write this on a kindle ebook lol. if you want i can help you with the landing gear thing in future crafts
-
@Livingg017 I just uploaded the more modern turboprop version of this plane a little while ago. It’s even lighter; most of the weight in the 1948-1970 models is from the engine nacelles and the radial engines themselves (each engine is well over 1000 kg)
-
@Livingg017 I can never get landing gear to look quite right. My philosophy is that if it can safely get my craft to rest on the ground without damaging the engines or body, then it’s good enough to pass, lol.

@Livingg017 I saw your post. I can see why you switched it to the tailsitter configuration because yikes, it leans backwards a lot. I think when I release the turboprop version of this plane, I’ll switch to the tailsitter config
-
@Aludra877 Yeah, I was taking the Comet out for a test flight and saw Brigo on the horizon and actually yelled out loud “HOLY CRAP, PHOTO OPPORTUNITY!!” I then proceeded to put the plane down and snap some pictures :)

@Livingg017 Feel free to check it out. It uses far fewer parts than the original D-16, so runs much more smoothly on mobile.
