In Honour of my Great Great Grand Uncle, Lost at sea - Battle of Jutland May 31st 1916..
In 1896 William C. Priday was born in Swansea, UK.
in 1914 -1915 he enlisted in the Royal Navy, he was a stoker aboard HMS indefatigable.
On may 30th, 1916, William C. Priday boarded HMS indefatigable, docked at Rosyth, Scotland, and served as one of its many stokers..
On 31st of May, 1916, The Indefatigable and multiple other british battlecruisers were fighting the german line, HMS Indefatigable put up a good fight, but when SMS Von Der Tann fired a shell into the Ammunitions storage site, the entire mid section of the ship was blown sky high in shrapnel.
Only minutes after the shell struck, HMS Indefatigable was at the base of the North sea, and 2 out of 1,016 crew survived the sinking. William C. Priday unfortunately was not one of them.. he died possibly instantly after the explosion caused the boiler room to flood.
it hurts me every day that his story could not be revealed.. that he went down with his past. he died at the tender age of 19.. so much potential lost to war..
In His memory, i present the HMS Remembrance.
"Lest We Forget".
she is given the famous Poppy, and her Navy look.
Not a day goes by where i forget what happened to him.. not a single damn day.. i dont blame the german soldiers, i blame the leader.
(Kaiser Wilhelm II) for the death of my Great Great Grand Uncle.. he died not only as a person... but his story was lost with him.... i hope to peice it back together some day.... God Save the king, and may God rest his soul.
May those responsible know truly what great sadness they have caused
not only our country, but our people aswell.

its quite a peculiar thing how it always hapens that those who are 19 years old are the ones who are statistically more propense to lose its life at wars, there is even a song about it (19). Its a strange fact to be honest

mu grand uncle died from a heart attack after running to catch an army train, he also was 19. not even at war, military is dangerous. Your great great grand uncle knew for sure the dangers of the war, the fact the story was lost is sad but you cannot change past so dont keep thinking about it or you are going to end depressed. Looks like what happened still hurts you, if you need anyone to talk with about anything here i am
