The Andean Condor is the largest vulture in the world with a wingspan of 10.5 ft (3.2m), the Andean Condor lives in the Andes mountain and glides most of its flying time, only flapping its wings a few times meaning it can conserve its energy and fly for thousands of miles. At Eagle Innovations we wanted to test if this could be possible. So we’ve built the Condor Mk1.
Featuring two electric motors both spinning at 1000RPM and pulling 290 watts total. This gives it a stall speed of about 80m/s and a max (recorded) speed of 126m/s. Also featuring 12 solar panels that at max efficency, pull 8 kilowatts of power. This gives it a charge rate of 28-1 meaning it could fly forever, as long as you are in the sunlight, and you would also want to waste your time flying this thing.
