Heat shields that can be resized and can be changed to fit any procedural part like fairings and fuel tanks.

The fuel tank/fuselage
The fuel tank heat shield can be resized like a standard fuel tank, but is only half of an outer part of the tank.

The wings
It will have the bottom and leading edge of wings. Can be customized to cover the top as well.

This is suggested in order to make interplanetary spaceplanes better and make tough aerobrakings easier.

@pedro16797 - absolutely. In a sandbox, any player can decide for themselves if they want magic thermal protection, or something more realistic. Eventually I think that there should be a standard parametric weight penalty, though, for the challenge missions, etc. Then it's more of a design contest or game. Some people may like that aspect.

@swope Imagine you have your normal body and you add a fairing as thermal protection coating (ablative, ceramic tiles...). You're adding the extra weight of the fairing, and you can tweak the mass of the part in order to simulate the realistic aspect

@pedro16797 - there should be a "fair" weight penalty for added heat resistance / tps.

You can use a fairing or a wing with tinkered heat resistance and paint it the same as the in-game heat shield
