I know that sub-assemblies with a command pod (called sub-crafts, AIUI) have their own staging. This isn't a questions about staging components within sub-assemblies.
It's just that having made a sub-craft, I want launch a rocket with the sub-craft's primary command pod inactive, and only activate it when I'm about to release it from the launch vehicle.
So far, I think I've always just given the sub-assembly's command pod a unique name and activated it from vizzy code. But I'd prefer it if I could have the sub-craft appear as a payload in the staging editor.
From what I can tell, I think sub-assemblies' command pods can only appear in their own staging. While that is reasonable for non-primary command pods, I think the primary command pod should be "outward facing" in this respect, appearing in the "parent" assembly's staging editor so that the sub-assembly can be enabled at the chosen time.
Is my understanding correct, and if so would this be taken as a suggestion?#
If I'm mistaken, I'd love to have some help working out where I'm going wrong.
