Something a lot of people don't seem to know is that Juno Village actually happens to have it's own dialect. Because of the town's isolation in the Driali Mountains, the people ended up developing their own language over thousands of years, into what we know as the modern-day Driali language. It's really interesting, so if you have the free time, I recommend you do a bit more research on it.
One phrase from Driali I wanted to share with you is something that's stuck around since ancient Driali was formed. it's a powerful chant with a ton of meaning, history, and is honestly just really fun to say: "In-Ha!"
At its core, it really just means "Look Ahead", but it's so layered and historical that, in spirit, it means much more than that. if you've ever watched a counterball tournament, you may notice Juno Village teams say it before they play, from secondary school all the way up to major league. This is the philosophy interpretation, and in this context, means you keep playing with maximum effort, and regardless of what happens, have fun. It's also a great way to boost morale.
Another fun interpretation can be seen at birthdays. instead of singing happy birthday and blowing out candles, we juice lingonberries and chant In-Ha. In this context, In-Ha means to look to forget the past and look to the future, and juicing lingonberries represents destroying all of the sadness, pain, and negativity of the year before into something tasty that you can drink. It's a really fun tradition.
My favorite interpretation, though, is the combatant interpretation. before every mission, you huddle up with your team, say a prayer to Soon'Ri (The god of the North Star, the most powerful of them all), and say the thing: In-Ha! Here, it means that no matter what, you will always face the enemy and fight for what's right. It's a sort of battle cry, and it's an honor to say it in that context.
So, there you have it. if you ever wanted something simple, Layered and powerful to say, this is what you've been looking for. Driali is an amazing language, and the people who speak it are amazing as well. If you ever want somewhere fun, inclusive, and welcoming to visit, go to Juno Village. You'll be overwhelmed by the love they give you.
