Yeah as you go through milestones when you are getting points (you mainly get points from people upvoting your posts), you rank up.

And speaking of points and ranks, i have almost 2000 points. Idk if it is another milestone, which I hope it is, but can’t wait to reach 2000 points! 😁

If you mean on your points icon, they're there just as a banner/visual id of your "rank", which increases once you reach a certain amount of points.
