So, our new Eagle Heavy launch vehicle(three Eagle 5 first stages strapped together with a partially reusable Eagle 5 second stage and extended faring in some cases), has finished with its primary testing and now we’re moving forward into the production and full-vehicle testing. Fans should expect a launch of NET May 20. The rocket will lift of from Orion Spaceport (new)Pad 19, specifically built to handle Eagle Heavy launches. The inaugural launch will feature a fully reusable variant, with the boosters and core stage of Eagle Heavy returning to the twin landing pads and the ASDS Drone ship stationed in the Gulf, respectively. The second stage’s configuration on this mission depends on what orbit it will be launching a payload to. The fairing will be the normal size for the first mission.
Anyways, we are asking you to submit a payload for Eagle Heavy’s Maiden Flight. We don’t want to waste a perfectly good launch on nothing(or a block of concrete), so we ask of you to allow us to launch whatever. It can be an actual satellite or lander, a test article for your company, or something funny(think Elon Musk’s Tesla Roadster). Anything really that will fit in an 18ft x 50ft payload fairing.
There are more payload slots available! Submissions end May 20.
