I've tried putting the 'stage override' option in the xml files to 'true' but the part I'm trying to remove from staging doesn't get removed, what am I doing wrong?

“Additional settings” tab. “Stage activation” cycler. So yeah if just set that to “none” it should disappear from the staging editor

In the designer there is an “additional” tab you can open. You can add fuel lines, protective heat coating and there’s a place where you cycle through where to place parts for staging. Just select “none” for any part you do not want to appear in the staging editor.
