INTRODUCING

AKASH

Akash is our first orbital class small class rocket designed to put small sats and larger sats into Low Droo Orbit and Geo-synchronous transfer orbit. You might think what's special about this rocket? It is special! Its 3D Printed and JNO world's first entirely Hybrid Fuelled Orbital class launch vehicle. Yes, you heard it right! Akash is a Hybrid Fuelled launcher! We took the plunge to harness this kind of fuel type.

OVERVIEW

  • Vehicle name : Akash(meaning sky)
  • Physique

    • Mass : 183t (183,000~ Kg)

    • Height : 28m

    • Diameter : 3.5m

    • Vehicle config : TSTO(Two Stage To Orbit)

  • Propulsions

    • Stage 1 : AHRB-1(Akash Hybrid Rocket Booster)

    • Thrust : 1831 kN

    • Stage 2 : AHUS(Akash Hybrid Upper Stage)

    • Thrust : 950 kN(Vacuum Optimized)

    • Both stages utilize Paraffin Wax And Liquid oxygen as Fuel and Oxidizer respectively

  • Payload

    • Fairing Diameter : 3.5m

    • Payload to LDO : 2500Kg

    • Payload to JSO : 1900Kg

    • Payload to GTO : 1500Kg

  • Launch site : Sarabhai Orbital Launch Port

    • SOLP-1

    • SOLP-2

Aakash is under development. It will be made by our in-house developed Metal 3D printer Nirman (meaning construction) which is able to print stainless steel. It will be launched from 2 launch pads at our Sarabhai Orbital Launch Port (named after Father of Indian Space Programme Dr Vikram Sarabhai) despite knowing the limitation of Hybrid fuels we took the challenge to use it efficiently. We are planning to have Akash's Orbital test flight by Q1-Q2 2024.
