Would it be possible to add a display to show the external temperature of a spacecraft when it enters a planet's atmosphere. That would give us some good data on the stress a vehicle is experiencing on atmospheric entry. It would also help if we could get a warning as to what parts maybe overheating on entry. I know that problem can be mitigated by setting all parts with high heat shielding and temperature tolerance during construction. Another question- could we get a reading on downrange distance during liftoff? It would be nice to know how far we are from the launch site. Sorry, but one last thing- could we have the option to have distances displayed in feet and miles? I'm an old school guy that still has problems visualizing in the metric system.

For the first question, i can answer that the temperature of each part of your spacecraft can be displayed simply selecting the part, in your outside view interface.
For example the temperature is indicated for the heat shield, and also the "remaining" quantity of shield. the same for a capsule, with an increasing percentage of damage if you exceed the max temp allowed.
