"Cast a ray" vizzy block finding false positions

As seen in the picture, the vizzy calculates the direction correctly. However, Cast a ray from ( pos ) towards ( dir ) (with pos and dir being the values from the picture) returns a a few meters next to the craft - where there clearly is nothing!
