So to start my suggestion, a new procedural part that can act as a detector of crafts and/or orbiting bodies in the atmosphere and outside, and my humble suggestion of implementing it is in the following:-

Procedural Radar Part

A new customizable part that has the ability to detect other crafts in the sandbox.

Part Looks:

For how the part is made to look like my suggestion is Semi Parabolic Antenna or Phased Array (Phased array would remove antenna) or switchable between both.

Phased Array

Semi Parabolic Antenna

For functionality i woud suggest the simplest form of radar Monostatic Radar.

Concept

Performance Adjustment:

Where:

- = (Decrease)
+ = (Increase)

Wavelength Slider: The wavelength of the radar determines the length of the radio wave and it is proportional to the range, so whenever we increase wavelength say from 1cm to 100cm :-

  • (+)Price of part.
  • (+)Maximum range.
  • (+)Size of antenna.
  • (+)Power consumption.
  • (-)Accuracy
  • (-)Smaller size object detection ability.

Frequency Slider: With frequency the radar's range is inversely proportional to frequency, therefore when we increase the GHz say from 0.1 to 50GHz:-

  • (-)Price of part.
  • (-)Size of antenna.
  • (-)Range.
  • (-)Power consumption.
  • (+)Accuracy.
  • (+)Smaller size object detection ability.

Angle of Coverage Slider: This angle unit would determine the elevation and azimuth detection angle of the radar and also increasing it will:-

  • (+)Price of part.
  • (+)Power consumption.
  • (-)Accuracy.

Performance Analyzer:

To determine the maximum range of the radar
there could be a special performance analyzer Similar to the current one we have for engines, For example we have three parameters for every Craft produced in designer and they are:-

  • Length
  • Width
  • Height

If we multiply them LxWxH we get a cubic size of the craft, Say the Performance Analyzer has a constant number of reference of 1m(cubic) and depending on the radar we produced we get:-

  • Maximum detection range of 1meter(cubic) size object.
  • Electric power consumption of produced radar.
  • A Percentage of accuracy of target parameters (Range,Altitude and Velocity).

Note: This may serve as a simple substitute for radar cross section.

I personally feel like a radar can add so much realism to Juno: New Origins and the feeling of accomplishment goes up when you are trying to dock in orbit you don't see the craft visually until it gets painted by your radar and then camera part can zoom in also in career mode to have radars function in cosmodrome and what not.
That is all, anyway you guys are the best devs.

    This would be very cool.

It would be useful to interact with the radar to search, track and select a target, which would diversify the gameplay a lot, I think in career mode, you could gradually explore new more advanced types of radars

The multi function display can show radar but a part for radar would look cool
