Rocket Engines shouldn't make the sounds that they do in space

Basically the title.
What I mean is, space is a vacuum, so there obviously shouldn't be sounds. But, let's say that the vibrations are transferred through the body of the rocket, still that wouldn't create such a loud sound of the engines, it would at best be a low rumble sound, not like the sound at lift off.
