I don't know how to reproduce this, but sometimes if you make a suborbital ballistic trajectory, your capsule doesn't slow down even in the thick atmosphere. YouTube video of the incident included. This is my 3rd time having this problem.

@AndrewGarrison that's great! I do suborbital trajectory only if I have to abort, that's why I had wrong impression. Glad you found out what's happening!

The problem doesn't actually have anything to do the trajectory. It can happen randomly if a part explodes. There was a bug that caused drag to stop re-calculating for your craft after that happened. The command pod was never getting its drag recalculated.

@AnotherFireFox You're right. This is definitely a bug. Thanks!

@AndrewGarrison Which is odd because it only happens in suborbital trajectory. If I make a full orbit and then deorbit, it just decelerate without any problem. I have some pics of it having perfect landing. Considering suborbital flight is slower than orbital one, your conclusion doesn't make sense to me. And the capsule weighs around 17 tons iirc :V

I investigated it this morning. The problem is the command pod is so heavy. It's 28,000kg, so the drag force is just not enough to slow it down. By comparison, the stock command pod weighs about 1,000kg. The majority of this is coming from the giant battery. However, it is a beautiful command pod!
