Sometimes, smoke which is positioned closer to the camera is rendered behind the farther smoke. I believe that this may be a result of all smoke particles of a particular plume being rendered as one entity, allowing for derps. I say this because the entirety of the plume is either hidden or shown.

    Smoke isn't volumetric, this is to be expected in how the smoke works. On top of that, what you are doing is tinkering with the game, so it's to be expected that things won't be super reliable.
