We al love highly detailed crafts but when a craft has over 4k parts it is usually unpleasant to fly because of the performance drop.
In order to improve performance something that could work great would be mockup nose cones, struts and wings.
Imagine you have those two parts that work exactly like struts, nose cones and wings but looking translucent in the designer and invisible in flight. Then all drag could be turned off in the rest of the parts of the craft simplifying a lot the aerodynamic calculations and even making them more realistic in some cases.
