Not sure exactly how to reproduce. What happened was I first encountered a physics glitch that instead of exploding my aircraft on impact with the ground, sent it flying upwards at a few km/s. Re-entry effects seemed broken, so I paused to take a closer look and they were! Video will be uploaded to google photos and included soon.
Come to think of it, the whole thing is a bit borked. Should have included more screenshots. Well, I can attach them here:
