With a mass smaller than that of Jupiter, Saturn became a more appealing and economic target for colonization after the invention of the fusion engine. Unlike Jupiter which requires the use of costly high thrust anti-matter engines to reach orbit, Saturn’s more manageable gravity allows for the use of less expensive fusion or even older fission engines to visit its atmosphere.
The magnetic field around Saturn may not be as powerful as the one around Jupiter. However, the Van Allen belts carry more anti-matter than those around any other planet around Sol. Astronomers speculate the field's interaction with the rings produces the anti-matter.
