A red, habitable planet, and the main base of operations within all of the Mortan System. It is unrelated to the star of the same name.
Merak is slightly larger than our home but is less dense, resulting in a surface gravity of 9.22 m/s^2 (0.94 g). It has a ring system and many interesting moons in a stable system despite its rather small size.
The planet's vegetation has red colored microbes all over it, and said microbes are also in the water, giving Merak its iconic red appearance. Water found in the polar regions have a significantly lower concentration of these bacteria.
Merak is often called the "Red Marble" or "Bloody Marble" as a parody of the Earth "Blue Marble" picture.
Atmosphere composition:
- 64% N2- nitrogen
- 31% O2- oxygen
- 3% H2O - water vapour
- 2% miscellaneous

@Tallisar i'll be sure to ask you if i'm uncertain with anything (once i get back to planet building ofc, you probably know the drill by now), while i want to keep Mortan and Zenith Galaxy a bit bizarre i also do want it to be semi-realistic, purely because the older versions were so unrealistic, but again i at least want to keep some of the wackiness for the fun of it
If you need help with science or RSS-scale, I'd be happy to help you, @Zenithspeed. I'd be happy to cleanse and bless this "wacky system".
@Tallisar yeah, that's true too
i've done some reworks to the entire Mortan system in the lore (still a long way to go before the updated version comes out) and many of Merak's moons have either been moved to other bodies or straight up deleted, it'll still be a bit on the wilder side seeing as i handwaved the whole system (and the galaxy it is in) as a "glitch in the matrix" kind of thing, but it's definitely been toned down compared to the old versions where i had no idea what i was doing
also, if you think this is bad, be glad it's not Spinar or Ravan... now those are where the science goes janky
I mean in terms of science. The lore is fascinating, and the in-game quality is not poor. My main issue with the planet is not the planet itself, but rather its satellite system. The rings, coupled with the high amount of moons are just no.@Zenithspeed
@Tallisar yeah, the whole Mortan system is generally outdated as heck, both in terms of lore and in-game quality
Looking back, this is an extremely problematic planet.
@PZLAgencies handwaved it with some m i c r o b e s
i don't think red water makes sense
@JanusIndustries you can upload an image on postimages.org, click the "direct link" once you are done with uploading and put that into the "image link here" bit
@Zenithspeed
Image link where?@JanusIndustries it's on the thing i linked, but here you go anyways:
@Zenithspeed
How do I put the link for an image inside a description of a planet or star like Mortan or Merak?@JanusIndustries can you explain what you mean by "input images"?
@Zenithspeed alright thanks to you, I now know. But I need to know how to input images. I tried to do it but it did not work. Can you please do a tutorial for me?
@JanusIndustries oops forgot to link it lol
my bad, fixing that rn
@Zenithspeed To what post or guide?
@JanusIndustries refer to this post/guide for that
@Zenithspeed And how do I put it in descriptions? I made for AVARIA but it wouldn't put it in. Please let me know because I am inspired because of you😆😆
@JanusIndustries i made custom logos for some of my planets
if you wanna know more, i've made a post about it
@Zenithspeed Nice but, how do you do that banner-looking thing that says "MERAK" in red? Like right below where it says, "This content requires the beta version of the game, which is currently undergoing testing and has not yet been released."
@JanusIndustries nah
@Zenithspeed Was it hard doing it?
@JanusIndustries use the runway lights structure, make them big, and place them like 500 m above the structure
@Zenithspeed How so you do city lights?
