Some time ago I had plans to build something from my country, it's here now, the VLS-1 rocket warrior!!

VLS 1 & SCD 2A

By Eduarddo

The VLS-1 (Portuguese: Veículo Lançador de Satélites) was the Brazilian Space Agency's main satellite launch vehicle. The launch vehicle was to be capable of launching satellites into orbit. The launch site was located at the Alcântara Launch Center due to its proximity to the equator.

Associated vehicles include the Sonda I, Sonda II, Sonda III and Sonda IV, the VS-30, VS-40 and VSB-30.

The VLS was cancelled after decades of development and high expenditures with poor results and a failed association with Ukraine that slowed the program for years.

SCD 2A

SCD-2A (Satélite de Coleta de Dados 2A in Portuguese) was a fully planned, constructed and qualified Brazilian data collection satellite in Brazil. SCD-2A was identical to SCD-2, which was successfully launched in 1998. SCD-2A was lost in the inaugural launch of the Brazilian rocket VLS-1 in 1997.

The SCD-2A was launched into space on November 2, 1997, by means of a VLS-1 rocket from the Alcântara Launch Center in state of Maranhão, Brazil. It had a mass of 115 kilograms. However, the satellite was lost due to an ignition failure in one of the first-stage thrusters during the first few seconds of flight, requiring the activation of the vehicle's self-destruct command.

There are literally documents proving the sabotage of the Brazilian space program by the United States, with the approval of President FHC
The accident itself I don't believe was directly caused by the US, but the sabotage is documented, it's a fact and that's why we stopped.

@RDXspace Não foi sabotado, foi uma falha que ocorreu como acontece com todas agências, o nosso erro foi ter parado...

It wasn't sabotaged, it was a failure that occurred as with all agencies, our mistake was to stop...

@NellEngineer I don't know why we're speaking in English, but the fact is that our Space program has been sabotaged by the U.S. as they always do. This is proven.

@NellEngineer Unfortunately it wasn't a lack of technology, Brazil has great minds, but the cancellation of the VLS program was tragic, a way to hide the effort of our 2003 Warriors!

This was without a doubt the closest rocket we've made to reaching orbit. It's a shame that it went so wrong because of lack of funds and technology
