DESCRIPTION
What is Parallax?
Parallax is a visual mod which adds huge amounts of highly detailed foliage and rocks to diversify the entire planetary system with the goal of making each and every planet unique to explore. These objects can also be made collideable to make navigating the planets more challenging.
Installation
- Download Parallax
- Download the Parallax Assets
- Browse to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimpleRockets 2\Mods. Can't find the AppData folder? See the Troubleshooting section
- Open the ParallaxAssets.zip and copy the "ParallaxData" folder to the "Mods" folder.
- Copy the Parallax2.sr2-mod (downloaded in step 1) to the "Mods" folder as well.
- Launch Juno: New Origins and enable the mod
- Enjoy!
Verification:
Inside Jundroo\SimpleRockets 2\Mods, you should have a folder named "ParallaxData" and a file named "Parallax2.sr2-mod". If you instead have a file named "Parallax2", this is fine and you just have file extensions hidden.
Troubleshooting:
Q: I can't find the AppData folder!
A: In the Users/USERNAME folder that you are currently in, look for the "view" button at the top of the File Explorer window. Click "view", then "show" -> "Hidden Items". You should now see the AppData folder.
Q: Nothing is showing up in game!
A: Is the mod enabled? In the top right on the main menu in JNO, click Modifications -> Parallax2 -> Enable. If you get an error, or Parallax2 does not show in the mods list, reread these installation instructions.
In order to achieve a high quality yet highly performant experience, Parallax utilizes a technique called GPU Instancing to draw thousands of objects efficiently. Even if you have a lower spec GPU, Parallax will run great - you can always tweak the settings and cater the experience to your needs:
Recommended Settings
- For the best experience, I would recommend using a terrain LOD quality of 6.0.
- You can adjust the mod settings by editing Mods\ParallaxData\Assets\Common\ParallaxSettings.xml, where you can adjust the quality settings, enable performance saving modes or even change which objects are collideable for an easy or challenging experience
Recommended Specs
- GPU with 3GB+ VRAM
- 6GB RAM (with terrain LOD 10)

@Pedro Sorry, i read the manual a little bit closer this time, it works :)
@Simplemila without knowing what the error is, hard to help. Did you follow all the steps in the installation guide?
It just wont work. It will show up in the game, but when i try to run it, it displays error screen, and around 10 lines of code output.
How to use in planet studio?
this mod crashed my gpu 10/10
seems like going to beta has worked
@IrrelevantApe Do you know how to manually update it?
descided to try out the beta now
@JanusSpaceIndustries was in 1.1
@IrrelevantApe What version is your game? It says in the top-right corner when you are in the game menu.
Hi, ive got the mod on and enabled on a save yet i do not see any of the added detail. Not sure what im missing
@skies218 If your having trouble loading the details you should try lowering the physics distance it reduces lag a lot. and if you want even less lag you could lower the shadow distance too.
@BuilditProx Yeah i basically have the same specs but it runs, aeighht i mean i'm used to playing highly modded ksp at 12 fps, so I cant complain. Nothing bad about the mod, ITS GREAT.
@skies218 I wouldn't count on it but no harm in trying I suppose. Just make sure you lower your LOD distance
Yea I’m buying sr2 for pc just so I can play this mod.
Hi I was wondering my pc has a core I7 CPU but an extremely bad 1gb gt 430 gpu with a sketchy Diy cooler, will this run fine?
100th upvote! love this
@Kosmos The probably are! You just haven't found them!
imagine if jungles were in this
@AstroAerospace the way this is avoided in the stock system is by masking out structures with a dedicated biome that doesn't have any scatter objects assigned to it
YEAH, FINNALY
@BuilditProx hell yes
In one of the blogs people wanted mobile
O my gaming laptop it takes 20 seconds to load compared to the usual 5 or something seconds
So it would probably take 10 minutes for it to load on mobile and it would probably kill their iPad
I have a HP laptop with 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 11 Gen. i3 processor
Can I run this mode perfectly?
love this
