It would be cool if we could get (optional, maybe a toggle in settings) for random failures. Things like engines failing/exploding or a camera not working, etc.
@SilverstoneAerospace I am actually trying to do something like that, can you tell me how?
@ParadoxTechnologies Maybe as a consequence for not putting enough "research points" into a certain type of tech in career. Like if you research a certain engine type (full flow stage combustion for example) but neglect some of the research leading up to it (advanced manufacturing and metallurgy for example), it will increase your chances of having a catastrophic engine failure. Teaching you to do all the research the hard way.
You could generate a random number and switch off a part with the number that comes up using vizzy👌👌
Well said, I also remember (unrelated genre wise) X-plane 10 were you could toggle things like engine flameouts and I thought it was really fun
There used to be a sim called AOK "The Wings of Mercury" It simulated Mercury orbital and suborbital flights. It had decent graphics and had a detailed control panel with operating knobs and switches. It also had a failure mode that could the toggled on or off before each mission. You could actually choose the type failures that might show up during flight. That program was narrow in scope because it only had two launch vehicles, Redstone and Atlas, and one spacecraft, the Mercury capsule. SR-2 would be much more complicated to include a failure mode I would think because of the variety of rockets, satellites and spacecraft that can be made. Maybe some generic items like engine or guidance failure on launch. (engine explosion or premature shutdown; rocket veering off course) For spacecraft or satellites maybe power or RCS or sps engine failures or fuel leaks might could be put in SR-2. I would think it would be something that you would want to toggle on or off.
please put this in the suggestions tab, under development.
Yeah, or maybe too much pressure, something like that. And I did put it in suggestions look at the tags
Ok but it would need to be for a logical reason not just for the good of it like overheating or too much acceleration and drag etc also it should be in suggestions
@zeropol that’s why I suggested a toggle so you can turn it on/off, maybe a toggle for sandbox and career mode
When (if) career mode comes, it would be nice :)
In sandbox I don't really get the point of engines/systems failures.
