Lately there seems to have been a rise in the number of users upvoting certain other users' posts just because they are friends, regardless of the quality of said post.
I'm here to make it clear that such activities are heavily discouraged, as well as being very close to breaking our rules, or even outright breaking them; depending on your perspective on it. Upvoting a user's post because you are friends regardless of its quality subverts the intent behind the points system and creates an unwanted environment.
These "upvote cults" as the community calls them, have two major effects: point inflation, and pushing some low effort and/or meme posts to the front page, pushing some high quality posts out of the spotlight.
What do I mean by point inflation? Well, say, for example, a user uploads the maximum 3 crafts a day, every day, and the same three users upvote all of them regardless of their quality. Within 30 days that user will have gained a considerable amount of points for simply consistently posting low-effort posts and having their friends upvote them. For obvious reasons, this is unfair to people who put a high amount of effort into their posts.
Anyone is allowed to upvote any post for any reason, however please consider the value of your upvote before upvoting another user's posts only because they are your friend. I get that you want to support them, and I was guilty of this previously as well, but it is problematic in high numbers and threatens the entire meaning of the points system in the first place. Thank you.
Oh, and one more thing. Please do not harass people that do this. Harassment is against our rules, and is generally just undeserved.
@SupremeDorian also here’s my point of teasers: teasers let people know what they are gonna upload next but also for mods to know if you’re uploading too much.

@PZLAerospace there's no upload limit for planets because otherwise uploading a system would take multiple days, since systems require you to upload every planet
Wait… I know you can only upload 3 crafts/sandboxes a day, but how many planets/planetary systems a day?

In-general, this post is rather old by this point and the issues it talks about don't seem to be nearly as prevalent as they were at the time.
i know this is an old post, but i've been upvoting many of the planet posts of some users on the site and as such it might be considered as an "upvote cult", but i upvote them not because i know them or anything, but because i genuinely think they're actually well-made - is this allowed or not?
While I'm here getting jack squat with some really kickass models, in MY opinion. Sure would be nice to see more activity. I think we could benefit from an IN GAME "upvote" panel. People are downloading, but they never come back to drop feedback or interact. V.v
I love this "game" and I can't wait to see what the new release brings. Hopefully a more inclusive sharing mod at some point.

Idk but I feel there is a conspiracy going between sr2 player's, new sr2 player's and dev's ... Their like , being very much like they preach against. They still Upvote as devs and stuff to their old friends that's been on here as long makes great looking stuff . But flies like trash.. they don't understand you can't sell broken items that even looks good, but they promote them being false advertising.. thank you for making , and sharing tho.. but this is drama , to much for what this game is .... I don't like how I been treated by your devs firstly.. and second I don't like how they try to ruin fun if feeling we made something special even if not.. it's depressing and down right , a reason to take my stuff off and stop sharing..
