As the closest celestial body to Earth, Luna became Humanity’s first home after the Great Nuclear Holocaust. The survivors of Earth gathered on its moon to rebuild human civilization. As the population grew, the government of Luna initiated the first terraformation effort in the Sol system.
The invention of the fusion engine facilitated the transport of icy comets from the outer Sol system onto the moon. Every collision provided this small world with more water and a progressively faster spin. The moon now carries enough spin to have a minimal magnetic field, however solar flares are slowly stripping away Luna’s atmosphere. Only matter-energy conversion technology can sustain this world’s atmosphere without the need of frequent comet impacts.
