The Falcon 9 is a partially reusable medium-lift launch vehicle developed by SpaceX. The first stage of the Falcon 9 is reusable and has 4 landing legs on the bottom of the first stage for landing back down on either land or a droneship floating the ocean. It also has 4 gridfins on the top of the first stage for guiding itself down to its landing pad. It uses 9 Merlin 1D Sea-level engines made by SpaceX. The second stage of the Falcon 9 isn’t reusable. It uses a Merlin 1D Vacuum engine also made by SpaceX. On top of the second stage is usually the payload fairing, but when launching Crew Dragon, the dragon spacecraft is mounted directly on top of the second stage. The dragon spacecraft is a spacecraft developed by Spacex that is designed to carry up to 7 people. Currently it has only flown with up to 4 people and almost all missions are used for bringing astronauts to the International Space Station. The dragon spacecraft has two parts; the trunk, and the crew module. The crew module has built-in escape thrusters to bring the spacecraft and crew away from the rocket in case of an emergency.
